Ohio Stadium, nicknamed “The Horseshoe” because of it’s shape and style, is located on the Ohio State University campus at 410 Woody Hayes Drive, Columbus, OH 43210. The stadium was built in 1922 and is owned by Ohio State University itself. The Horseshoe can hold 101,568 people which ranks second in the nation behind only Neyland Stadium ( Tennessee) and Michigan Stadium ( Michigan). Ohio Stadium uses a grass playing surface and cost $1,341,000 to build at the time of construction. In the fall of 2000, Ohio Stadium underwent a renovation project that put permanent seats in the south stands and also included a new scoreboard. The renovation project cost $194 million but 80% of that was covered through the sale of 81 hospitality suites and 2,500 club level seats on the west side of the stadium. Since its opening in 1922, the Horseshoe has led the nation in yearly college football attendance 20 times.
