The Virginia Cavaliers of the Atlantic Coast Conference play their home games at David Harrison III Field at Scott Stadium. The facility is named after Frederic William Scott who donated $360,000 in 1974 and the field is named after David Harrison III who donated $5 million to the football program. Scott Stadium was built in 1931 and cost $300,000 to build. It can hold 61,500 people and uses a grass playing surface. Artificial turf was used on the field from 1974-1994. Upper deck seating opened for the first time in 1980 and permanent lights were installed in 1982 for late afternoon and night games. The press facility can hold 150 people and is one of the top facilities in the conference and the nation.
